On Monday, decentralized social media platform “Farcaster” was the timeline’s main character after its founder Dan Romero said that they’re going to prioritize building their wallet over the social features of the platform. “Social-first didn’t work” said Dan in the contentious post, which tbh I thought was old news. Dan went on to say that he believes the wallet will grow the social network of Farcaster, but it seems like most people didn’t read that far. (Which is on Dan as a comms fumble, imo.)

In addition to loyal users feeling slighted by Dan & co.’s positioning, much of the ire was derived from disappointed airdrop farmers, who feel as though they “wasted their time” engagement farming on an app where no token will be launched. Okay babe here’s your 100$Degen. You can’t blame a team for not wanting to build on a plateaued network indefinitely. Thems the breaks! Also, the Base app is built on Farcaster so just head over there?
