Seeing Red. The crypto market dropped this week. Some call it a tumble, others suggest it’s a catastrophe, we call it just another week in crypto. *Just* an 11% drop? We’ve seen worse. Is the dump because Elon sold $373M in Bitcoin from the SpaceX balance sheet? “Zero evidence” to support that claim. Is it macro pressure from China? Who tf knows. Tough time never last only tough people last.

Gitcoin Stumbles. Gitcoin got ratioed big time this week when they dropped news of their collab with Shell Oil Company. Shell is contributing around $500,000 in funding towards Gitcoin grants, and to a hackathon focused on blockchain-related energy use cases. The roasting ranged from hilarious to pissed. Gitcoin co-founder Kevin Owocki responded with an extremely thoughtful and nuanced post explaining the move. My unsolicited opinion? Take the money to distribute to worthy projects, but demand that the check size is at least 10X bigger. After all, Shell reported $5B in profits in Q2 alone.
