Bitcoin Halving. It’s Bitcoin Halving week on the Great British Baking Show aka The Laser Eye Olympics. Coachella for Libertarians. The Tour de Coin. Here’s a countdown clock if you’re keen. JP Morgan says the price of Bitcoin is likely to drop after the halving. People on Twitter think the price of Bitcoin is likely to rise after the halving. Podcast guest Robby Greenfield says the halving may result in Bitcoin miners pursuing sustainable energy sources to minimize increased costs. Will someone please find Kara Swisher’s missing Bitcoin?

AirChat Airdrop. AirChat, a new invite-only audio social network created by Naval, took over the timeline earlier this week. AirChat is working to Make “Social Audio” Great Again, filling a void left by Clubhouse. No new social network is complete without its memecoin counterpart, and AirChat delivered. The beautifully named $YAP was minted and airdropped to AirChat users that read out their wallet address in a thread earlier this week. Meaning, people were saying their 20 character wallet addresses out loud, in order to qualify for a token airdrop. Is it real? Is it performance art? It’s 2024, who cares anymore. It simply is. h/t queen Ivy for the story tip.

Wallet Chains. This segment was written by Mother aka Evin McMullen aka founder of Disco. Wallets now produce enough transactions to justify their own Rollups, so hold onto your bags — it’s wallet chain season! Zerion dropped their alpha first, followed by Worldcoin, see: Worldchain. Rumor has it that Rainbow and Rabby aren’t far behind. Kraken (hi sponsor daddies!) also announced their wallet this week, which could precede a chain as well. Seeing Base absolutely print for Coinbase, I think other exchanges will similarly upgrade from financial custodian to data custodian, and start to leverage their data (eg. KYC) onchain as bait for developers to build there. Coinbase first, Kraken next, and I expect OKX and more as fast follows. Venmo-style wallet chains with no fees may become the basis of P2P transactions, and The Agglayer offers a way to connect them all to other chains & ZK databases, enabling the user experience of unified liquidity without needing to worry about which protocol you have tokens on. I’ll be here waiting.
