Four Months. Binance founder CZ was sentenced to a “light” four months in prison this week for violations of anti-money laundering laws while he was running the world’s largest crypto exchange. Four months? Now That’s What I Call Leverage!

What intel did CZ offer to the government in exchange for such a gentle sentence? Something with “geopolitical significance”, perhaps? Or maybe it was just the 161 letters of support. Who’s to say! Regardless, I’m impressed at the PR jiu jitsu being played with CZ’s reputation overall — men are even sending him heart emojis on X. That said, if we’re in the mood to choose heroes, my vote goes to bearded blue eye baby boi Jack Dorsey, who is getting the good kind of spicy on main. His company Cash App is being investigated by the DOJ for a similar charge, and this is your quarterly reminder to update your brain software on how to think about regulation by enforcement.
