Elon Musk is lawsuitmaxxing

Sama comes with receipts

bonjour,

There’s so much I wanted to write about in this newsletter, like who is going to buy FTX’s Anthropic shares (they own 7.8% of the AI startup, can you believe?!?), or how an ex-Google engineer is being charged in China for stealing AI secrets from the company. But Elon is being such a pick-me girl, there’s no oxygen left in the room or this email.

First, some club news:

  • New episode of our podcast Too Online is out now. We talked rage bait (which was aptly timed) with think boi Ņ̨͈̯̻̪̥̥ͅick S̘͓͙usi; listen here.

Boys Club’s first ever conference, /brandnew, is next week! The guest list is stacked, the programming is top tier, and the gift bags are dialed in. You’ll have to wait and see them on Tuesday!!!

Babe wake up, the boys are fighting. Elon Musk is suing OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman. On March 1st, Musk filed a lawsuit against the company and its CEO for abandoning its original mission of developing artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity, and instead prioritizing profit.

Some context, back in 2015, Musk joined OpenAI as a co-founder and investor when Altman and Brockman sold him on the idea of a open-source, nonprofit organization which would be focused on building AGI for the good of humanity.

Musk now claims that they are in breach of contract, with the suit stating "OpenAI Inc. has been transformed into a closed-source de facto subsidiary of the largest technology company in the world: Microsoft."

Over the weekend, all the billionaire baby boys went to daycare and weighed in on X, taking names and taking sides. It’s like get a J-O-B, amiright?

On Monday, Sama pulled an Elon, trolling on Twitter by responding to an exchange they had in 2019 where Elon thanked Sama for standing up for Tesla.

On Tuesday, OpenAI was all…

and came with receipts, going full ex on Elon. In a blog post on their site, OpenAI outlined Musk's earlier attempts to commercialize the company in 2018, publishing email exchanges in which Elon suggested raising $1 billion and merging with Tesla. OpenAI also stated that Musk "wanted majority equity, initial board control, and to be CEO." Girl, it's giving delulu.

Anyway, the story is developing, and I’m sure you will be hearing more from me on it. It all feels so high school, and it would be very funny if these men weren't literally the rulers of our universe.

A section highlighting the timeline takeover clips, toks, and vids from the week.
