Founder Mode. Paul Graham, founder of infamous startup incubator Y Combinator, released an essay this weekend called Founder Mode, which lit up the timeline. The essay’s key insight is that founders should not blindly trust hired managers to scale the important parts of their business, citing Steve Jobs as an example of Founder Mode done right. The debate goes like this — is Paul giving permission to startup founders to be micromanaging assholes, or is this sage advice that speaks to founder intuition and work ethic? Or a third more elusive choice - is the meme of Founder Mode superior to the essay itself?
