Fetching. Say what you want about internet money, but at least it’s entertaining. This week, a dog-styled memecoin called dogwifhat jumped 50% in price, and the gains guys are pumped. This is part of a larger story around Solana meme coins, which are definitely having a moment. Franklin Templeton, a publicly traded, traditional investment firm with $1.5T assets under management, tweeted, “You are unsure how to feel about Laser Eye Ben? Just think instead of Ben wif hat.” “Ben” refers to Benjamin Franklin, for whom the company is named. Proof we’ve living in the goofiest era. Here’s where I’m at with it all.

Farcaster. I promise this won’t become a memecoin newsletter, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention a Farcaster-originated memecoin $DEGEN is up only rn. More importantly, shout out to Farcaster’s user metric dashboard, which is looking very moisturized, thriving, in their lane etc. I’d happily delete the Elon app and migrate to Farcaster, if only more people over there understood this reference. Devs, do something.

SEC vs. Coinbase. Coinbase argued with the Securities and Exchange Commish this week in court. Coinbase is hoping for a dismissal of this lawsuit, and it seems to have been a relatively positive day for the “DeFi People.” Coinbase is arguing that tokens aren’t securities since there is no investment contract - i.e., you can’t sue a token issuer if they don’t deliver. It’s like buying Beanie Babies, Coinbase says, using a well-intentioned but misunderstood metaphor. The headlines write themselves. The judge hasn’t ruled yet. We’re watching.
