bonjour,
Have you done your taxes yet? This is what I’m doing instead.
Anyways! We’ve been podcasting a lot:
We reported on Disney Bounding and Donghau JingLong on this week’s episode of Too Online.
Plus, we’re doing nightly recap episodes on Crypto the Game here.

Everyones doing it. This week, OpenAI, Google, and Mistral all released new AI models within 12 hours of each other. Like all God’s children, each one is unique in their own way:
OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo with Vision “is a large multimodal model (accepting text or image inputs and outputting text).” It’s now available in OpenAI API to paying customers. It’s also apparently smarter than previous models (one would hope).
Google’s Gemini Pro 1.5 is “a mid-size multimodal model, optimized for scaling across a wide range of tasks.” One feature Google highlighted in this new model is Long Context Understanding, a feature which can take in lots of content and “analyze, classify and summarize” it seamlessly. The model is a triple threat, as it can understand text, audio, and video.
Mistral, a Paris-based AI company with a cheekboned founder, had a big week in the ring with the big boys with the release of their “flagship large language model called Mistral Large.” Alongside this model, they are also launching a rival to ChatGPT called Le Chat. You truly can not make this stuff up.
Meta’s all like we got one too! At an event on Tuesday, Meta confirmed that they’ll be launching their next-generation foundation model, Llama 3, very soon and you should watch this space! What’s notable about their approach vs. OpenAI is Zuch is going open-source with it. Betting that the devs will do something.
TikTok, pay me. Reporter Kaya Yurieff scooped that ByteDance, the parent company to TikTok, is testing a rewards app called Coin App, which allows users to earn points for engagement which can then be converted to digital gift cards and/or tips for creators. The app is live in Japan and Korea and worked well enough to justify rolling out in Spain and France to combat stagnated growth. It all sounds very crypto-coded.
