Google simps, Gary goes Ape, #DeletePayPal

Hi, Thanks to everyone who showed up for Boys in Bogotá this past week. Special shout out to skinfluencer Stani Kulechov and our party pals Aave Grants DAO for being the best.

This week’s newsletter looks different because we’ve had a Substack makeover and it’s become our entire personality.

  • Smells like adoption. Coinbase and Google are making a baby. This week, Google announced that in early 2023 users will be able to pay for cloud services using crypto via Coinbase — further evidence that the future of tech is bullish on web3. This isn’t Google’s first web3 rodeo. So far this year, Google has partnered with five web3 protocols - BNB chain, Sky Mavis, Coinbase, Nansen and Near. We’re here for FAANG simps. Big tech adoption, here we come. “This is just the beginning,” says Dad.

  • PayPal shits the bed. Web2 glitched out this week when news broke that PayPal would begin freezing the funds of users that “spread misinformation.” The policy outlined plans to impose a $2,500 fine any time one of its consumers or merchants expressed misinformation online. PayPal quickly backtracked, saying the messaging was an “error”, but the criticism has not stopped rolling in. Tensions over government and corporate intervention in individual’s lives have been at an all time high since the Tornado Cash ban in August, so needless to say PayPal is not going to live this down easily. Speaking of Tornado Cash… looks like the the US treasury department is getting sued.

  • Gary goes Ape. The SEC is investigating Bored Ape creator Yuga Labs over unregistered security offerings. The outcome of this investigation will likely set a major precedent for the entire NFT market. If NFTs are found to behave like stocks then they’ll be subject to the same disclosure rules and regulations as other securities. We will not say anything else on the matter except for Shields UP 🛡️.

MoonPay is doing the work of onboarding millions into web3 worldwide. It's one of the most trusted infrastructure companies in the Crypto space... and needless to say Boys Club is *obsessed*. As we aim to onboard the next million into web3, we cannot recommend MoonPay enough.MoonPay makes it so incredibly easy to jumpstart your web3 journey by making the process to buy, sell and purchase digital collectibles as simple as possible. All you need is a debit or credit card.
