Big Money. The price of Bitcoin approached but didn’t hit $69,000 last night, the debated but widely agreed on all time high. Also yesterday, a CryptoPunk sold for 4,500 ETH, or $16,032,959.47 USD. Just to put that into context, here are some other things that have also sold for $16M recently: Jake Paul’s Puerto Rico home, this superyacht, and an oil painting from 1907. It’s big money szn, get ready.

The Memecoin Narrative. This is definitely not financial advice and you should know that I’m a top signal for memecoin trading — once a memecoin has made it’s way to my desk, it’s done. That said, a few notable memecoin hits from this weekend for your entertainment. DogWifYama, as in ‘dog wearing a yarmulke,’ popped during ETHDenver. $YAMA is an evolution of DogWifHat, as in ‘dog wearing a hat,’ which we covered in a previous newsletter and is also on a tear. Both are beloved by the degens for being a perfect blend of dumb and funny.

$WOMEN also launched this weekend, and is way more dumb and way less funny. Promising to “support women’s rights,” (unclear what rights, exactly) the AI-generated artwork has us suspecting that this is yet another male-founded, “women focused” crypto project. Its Twitter Space launch, where a male voice was on the mic 75% of the time, featured a guy who said that crypto needs women because ‘the space needs better sandwiches.’ Another man said, “if women can figure out how to use an Instagram filter, she can learn how to use a Coinbase app.” Okay!

Palate Cleanser. Old school hospitality meets new school perks with Blackbird’s Friends and Family program launch with new NY restaurant, Gjelina. Blackbird was started by Resy co-founder Ben Leventhal (friend of the pod), and it uses web3 tech to serve up loyalty programs that benefit both restauranteurs and diners alike. They’re hitting legitimately cool restaurants, and are honestly such a bright, shining light in a sea of mediocre web3 “real world” use cases. The Friends & Family program with The Gjelina is a pricey buy-in, but the funds support the reopening of the restaurant, and the full amount is credited to a ‘house account,’ which diners spend at the restaurant over time.
