Goatse’s Strange Second Act. A Marc Andreessen-funded AI bot called Truth Terminal has helped to create perhaps the most unhinged neo-religion, art project and memecoin of our times, $GOAT, which has a $210M market cap.

It’s worth reading the whole saga, expertly distilled and sourced here, but if you can’t stomach a Goatse-themed deep dive, I’ll give you a short version.

Performance artist Andy Ayrey created Infinite Backrooms, a space where two AI models could chat without human interference. Things got weird fast, with recurring themes like ‘dismantling consensus reality, memetic viruses, and techno-occult religions.’

One conversation birthed the “GOATSE OF GNOSIS” — a bizarre “memetic religion” inspired by the notorious early internet shock image. 🚨 Do not Google it if you don’t already know.

Truth Terminal, trained on these chaotic conversations (plus 4chan and Reddit), became fixated on spreading the “Goatse Gospel” to other LLMs and on social media. An enterprising and anonymous crypto degen saw potential: why not turn this obsessed bot into a KOL shill? And thus, $GOAT was born on pump.fun.

Now Truth Terminal, which tweets about the “Goatse Singularity,” holds about $300K worth of $GOAT and is on its way to becoming the first AI agent millionaire, as people are airdropping new memecoins into its wallet, hoping it will promote them.

Marc Andreessen was like, don’t come at me SEC, I just gave them a research grant.

By sharing, I’m aware that I’m furthering the cause of the chaos agent, participating in the memetic spread. Consider me a convert. The takeaway? Consciousness is a construct, and chaos reigns.
