TikTok Ban. The clock is ticking for TikTok (sorry). On Wednesday, the House passed a bill that would force TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app to non-Chinese owners or be banned in the US due to privacy and data concerns. The TikTok CEO responded on X (lol), saying this would give even more power to other social media platforms (based), and put 300,000 American jobs at risk. A powerful message, sure, but they could’ve hired me to create a best-of-TikTok reel that I bet would be 100X more convincing.

IMO, the best part of this whole story is the mobilization of TikTok users to call their congresspeople. You’d never catch me betting against a cabal of Swifties, Barbz, BTS Army and literally every other pop culture fandom on the planet. Also, if a ban gets enacted, where else will women go for a sexual awakening? Duolingo?

Ethereum Glow-Up. Ethereum got another upgrade this week, which results in cheaper, faster and more efficient transactions. “Blobs” are the main character of this upgrade. Think of Blobs like ephemeral data, like Instagram stories for the blockchain. More metaphors here. People even uploaded the Bee Movie script to the blockchain to show how fast and cheap it is. Alrighty!

This week in memecoins. I’m looking for someone to volunteer as tribute to write a weekly memecoin column for this newsletter. We’ll compensate you in $tradwife. DM me. In the meantime, I’ll be here serving my time in memecoin purgatory — watching the charts and not yet buying, but wishing I had. As for news, some people raised money to put the $WIF dog on the Las Vegas sphere. Crypto is not allowed on that hallowed media property, but it’s the thought that counts.
