Hey guys,

Not to scare you but…

OpenAI. After Sam Altman’s weird Death Star teaser tweet (idk), OpenAI went live just now to announce the launch of GPT-5.

It’s clear that GPT-5 is orders of magnitude smarter and more powerful than previous models, though the team has committed chart crimes in trying to tell that story.

In Sam’s opening bit, he mentions that GPT-5 can write an entire computer program, landing on this idea of “software on demand.” He also talked about how it can plan a party, from invites to managing vendors, and manage your personal health. The big takeaway for me is that it will be rolling out to everyone, including free-tier users. It’s clear that OpenAI is chasing growth ~ AT ALL COSTS ~ and it’s going to be crazy to watch how their competitors respond.

As for me, I’ll go back to thinking about how to acquire a profitable HVAC business in a tier 4 city.

Tornado Cash. A Manhattan jury delivered a split decision on Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm this week. The stakes here are high for the crypto industry.

from Wired

The jury found him guilty of conspiring to run an unlicensed money-transmitting business (👎), but hung on the money-laundering and North Korea sanctions counts, which can carry a 20+ year prison sentence (👍.) The ruling unfortunately shows prosecutors are still willing to prosecute devs despite mixed signals from the Trump administration leadership on the matter (👎.) Speaking of privacy, check out the Payy card, an “undoxxable non-custodial card using ZK for privacy.”
